Last week I challenged myself to do Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred. Today is day 9. I have kept up with it every day this past week with the exception of yesterday. I had kickboxing and it is very shred like. We did cardio, we did strength moves, and we did abs. It’s a killer workout in itself and it’s for an hour!
I am going to miss my Monday kickboxing class when the competition season begins in a couple weeks for my tennis league. I was moved up to the Monday league.
Anyway, the first few days of the Shred is really tough. I am still on level one. Today is day 9. I hope that after today’s and tomorrow’s workout I feel strong enough to move to level 2. I am planning 10 days on each level. Let’s hope my body cooperates!
Let’s move on to the main reason for this post…The Weigh In! This week was going to be tough. I knew I’d get a workout with the Shred, but I wasn’t able to get to the gym any of those days.
I lost -1.8 lbs!!! YAY! Another loss! I couldn’t believe it. Especially since we are in THAT time AGAIN! I told you it’s a crazy cycle. But despite that I loss. i just have to watch the hormonal munchies this week and should be good to go for next weeks. I don’t want to get to ahead of myself though.

So that was a loss without the gym. I did The Shred every day last week Monday thru Sunday. I walked 10,000 steps or more 5 days. I played tennis one night. It was a great week. It was productive.
I also closely watched what I ate!! I was logging my food for Dr. Brooke. The Nutritional Doctor behind The Ultimate You.
I had my consultation. I found out that I am insulin resistant and while my thyroid is in the normal range, it’s on the extreme low end of the normal range that doctors measure for. I’ll hopefully get further testing of that when I go to my next doctor appointment in September. I have to really tighten down on my carbs. I may also have a low stomach acid issue cause by an infection called H.Pylori. I googled it. It’s not life threatening or anything, but can eventually cause ulcers. I can have it tested, but won’t get a chance for another month or so…I can only get it done if insurance will cover it. I can pay to have it done, but at $150 or so….I just can’t swing it. We’ve had some unexpected financial issues come up. I am trying not to let the stress of that take over my eating. In the past, this would have put me immediately in a downward spiral. It sucks that eating healthy is more expensive. We’ve decided to make cuts elsewhere in our lifestyle and to keep buying healthy, fresh, and organic when we can.
So yes, my head is still spinning on the questions that I had for Dr. Brooke. She was awesome, and had so much information for my specific needs. I have so much more to learn and apply.
So on to this week. Goals….
1. walk 10,000 steps at least 5 days this week. This includes steps in workouts, tennis, and day to day chores.
2. complete days 9-14 of the 30 Day Shred and move up to level 2.
3. Play tennis 3 times this week
4. 64-80 ounces of water every day at minimum.
So there you have it. I’ll just keep on trucking from here.
