Whew! Weigh In Time – Becoming the Ultimate Me!

Ok, I put a ton of stress on myself this week due to last weeks horrible weigh in.  I know I should be such a slave to the scale, but I can’t help it.  There are number goals involved, and I am so close to the next one, and it keeps jumping just out of reach.

202.2 lbs (-3 lbs)

Anyway, I have lost 3 pounds this week!!!!  I just knew all the
hard work and food journaling would work!

I’ve been using the Fitbit for monitoring my activity and using their food tracking program.  You can see my entire profile if you go to this LINK.  I keep just about everything public….so I am better accountable for it all!  You can see that I still have some adjustments in my meal planning to make.

Last Monday was the day that I officially started the Ultimate You program.

I have now completed my first week of Phase 1, and feel like I accomplished so much!  the workouts weren’t too bad.  They were definitely harder than they look, but it really paid off and I can feel my abs being stronger already.
I really felt the difference in my kickboxing class this morning.

Let me tell you a little about Ultimate You….
It’s a book.  It’s co-written by two authors.   A personal trainer, Joe Dowdell (CSCS), and a naturopathic doctor, Dr. Brooke Kalanick (ND, MS).
Here is an excerpt from their website.

Ultimate You is not a quick fix –nor is it a “diet.”  It is a lifestyle program that will help you shed fat in a healthy way that allows your body to get in balance and stay there – decreasing your chances of ever slipping back and losing the Ultimate You.
You won’t be counting calories and you won’t be hungry.  You’ll enjoy steady fat loss without sacrificing your health for quick weight loss –and you’ll look and feel better than ever.
You won’t be burnt out from grueling workouts and spending hours at the gym.  You’ll be exercising smarter in less time and recovering daily–leaving you rejuvenated and ready to keep moving towards your Ultimate You.

Ultimate You
is not your average weight loss book. Ultimate You shows you how to exercise, how to eat and how to live your life to be your best, healthiest self.  And when you’re done with the 16 week, four phase program we’re still by your side to take you even further.

Phase 1 lasts 4 weeks.  It consists of adjusting your eating habits (this is the toughest for me!) Although, I have done a lot in the past few months to adjust my eating habits, I still need work, and I am finding it hard to totally give up carbs (breads and pasta).  I have gotten rid of using regualr breads and using Flatout Flat bread now so that is a small step at least. It’s tough, but I am in the right mind set to get this done now.
Phase 1 also gives you a strength workout to complete 3 times a week and a cardio program 2 times a week.  It’s not hard at all!  I am still doing my regular stuff in between as well.  I’m playing tennis 4 times a week and taking my kickboxing class. I didn’t want to totally give those up.

Now I consider myself very lucky!  I don’t think I would have purchased this book if I would have seen it on a shelf at the book store.  I was sick of trying out different “programs,” and just content with doing my own thing…..sweating my ass off!! I also know that I will NEVER look as good as the model on the cover.    I won this book on Twitter.  Be sure to follow them at @UltimateYou_ or on Facebook.  You never know if they’ll run another contest or advertise a discount!   The book itself is not expensive at all! It’s currently on sale for only $17.15 (reg 24.99) at Amazon!!!  I did, however, purchase the Kindle version (9.99) for my iTouch so I have it where ever I go!

Even luckier yet…Yep another Facebook/Twitter contest!!!  I won a one hour phone consultation with Dr. Brooke herself!!!  I can’t wait until we have our time set up to chat.  I have soooo many questions.  I must write them down so I don’t forget!   Yes, I am using tons of exclamation points!  I am THAT excited about this!!!  This is the part of my new lifestyle that I struggle with the most so it is great that I get this chance to chat with the creator of this program!!!

Today I start week 2 of Phase 1.  I had kick boxing this morning and I have cardio tennis tonight, but after I am done typing this post, I will be doing my strength training program here in the comfort of my home!
I have already talked to my personal trainer at my health club about this program.  In 3 weeks from now, I will be setting up some one on one time with her so we can work through the Phase 2 workout.  I usually use the individual machines at the club, and am petrified of trying the free weights!!!  With her help though, it will be a breeze!  She was just telling me how proud she is of me for what I have accomplished in the last 8 months since I have joined.  She said most people join, but don’t follow through, and to see the results I have accomplished so far makes her so happy!   WOW, now that made me feel great!  It hasn’t been easy, and I have struggled more than my fair share, but when someone like her recognizes my accomplishments….I can’t help but to smile!

Wow, can you tell how excited and happy I am this week.  It must be the endorphins and the hormones starting to get back into balance from eating better!   lol
As a side note I am going to call my doctor this week to set up an appointment for a physical and tests.  It’s been almost 4 years since my last physical. I am way over due!!  I think I’d like to have some tests done to check my thyroid as well. I seem to have many of the symptoms for thyroid issues.  Better to be safe than sorry!
When was the last time YOU went to the doctor for a complete check up??

NICE! Did ya do the whole “stare at scale, step off, wait for it shut off, get back on and stare again” routine?! I would! Way to go! Keep it up!

LMAO – I totally did that! I do that ALL the time. I double weigh just to make sure. It’s an old habit from my old scale…I used to have to make sure it was lined up the same way on my floor every time or it could read different. It obviously wasn’t a very good scale. hahaha My current scale is much more accurate, but old habits die hard…as evidenced by trying to change my eating habits.
